How we count the weekends
Weekends here mean Saturday and Sunday together, counted once. A weekend already under way today is left out.
The span runs from tomorrow to the eve of Halloween, which is 361 days. Today, Wednesday, November 4, 2026, is outside it.
No estimate is involved. The page counts calendar dates, so leap days and month lengths are handled for you without extra effort.
A sleep is a night, so the sleeps until Halloween match the days. Work days are Monday to Friday, and weekends are counted by their Saturday. Hours are measured from the start of today where you are.
361 sleeps remain, equal to the days because each day follows a night.

Why count weekends?
People turn to weekends when days feel too fine. Putting Halloween into a coarser unit makes the wait easier to compare with other plans.
Some people find days too small a unit and years too large. weekends sit in between, which is why this page exists.
Watching the figure fall is part of the fun of a countdown. It moves at the pace of the calendar, not of the clock.
No sign up is needed. The page recounts from your own clock when it loads, and no data about you is kept.
Weekends until other holidays
Compare Halloween with its neighbours on the calendar. The figures use the same start day and the same rule.
| Event | Date | Weekends to go |
|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Thu, Nov 26 | 3 |
| Black Friday | Fri, Nov 27 | 3 |
| Christmas | Fri, Dec 25 | 7 |
| New Year's Day | Fri, Jan 1 | 8 |
| Valentine's Day | Sun, Feb 14 | 15 |
| Easter | Sun, Mar 28 | 21 |
Key dates before Halloween
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| Fri, Oct 1 | October begins |
| Sat, Oct 30 | Last Saturday before Halloween |
| Sun, Oct 31 | Clocks go back in the UK and Europe |
| Sun, Oct 31 | Halloween |
| Mon, Nov 1 | All Saints' Day |
| Tue, Nov 2 | Day of the Dead ends |
About Halloween
Halloween 2027 falls on a Sunday.
The name is short for All Hallows' Eve, the night before All Saints' Day on November 1. The church feast gave the evening its place in the calendar.
Many historians link the customs to Samhain, an old Gaelic festival that marked the end of the harvest. That link is debated, and the evidence is thin.
Irish and Scottish emigrants carried the customs to North America in the 19th century. From there costumes and trick or treating spread around the world.
Weekday public holidays before Halloween
| Country | Weekday holidays | Work days left |
|---|---|---|
| US | 11 | 246 |
| UK | 8 | 249 |
| Canada | 10 | 247 |
| Australia | 6 | 251 |
National days only. State and provincial days vary.
Planning with the count
If you are saving for Halloween, divide the amount by the weekends left. The result is what to set aside each time.
A shared countdown stops arguments about dates. Everyone sees the same figure for Halloween and the same list of days.
Remember that holidays shift the real total. The table lists the observed days off in each country between now and Halloween.
The page rolls forward on its own. It counts to the next Halloween the day after this one.
A good habit is to check the count once a week. A small change in the number is a cue to review the plan.
Do not plan to use every weekend. Something usually comes up, so keep the last one or two in reserve.
The figure is the same for everyone in one time zone. Visitors elsewhere may see it change at a different hour.
This count ignores time of day. A weekend is counted as passed once midnight arrives in your own time zone.
The count is based on whole days from the calendar, so month lengths and leap years are handled for you. Writing the total down at the start can help you track your progress later on.
Checking the number
To check the figure yourself, count the weekends on a printed calendar from tomorrow. The total should match the headline number.
Time zones can move the answer by one day around midnight. The page reads your device clock and recounts when you load it.
Share the link with family or colleagues. Everyone then works from the same number for Halloween.
Bookmark this page to keep the count handy. It refreshes by itself each day and the working is shown in full.

Questions people ask
Is today counted in the weekends until Halloween?
No, we start tomorrow. The day itself is also excluded, so the figure is the number of days that lie between.
How many days until Halloween?
In days, Halloween is 361 days off. The countdown adds hours, sleeps and a calendar.
Does a weekend that has already started count?
It does not count. We start from tomorrow, so a Saturday today or a Sunday today is outside the span.
Is the count the same everywhere?
Slightly different. Because each zone has its own midnight, the number can differ by one around that time.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
It stops at your local midnight on Halloween, shows that today is the day, and then restarts for 2028.
