Why the number of Fridays changes each year
Seven does not go into 365 cleanly. The remainder of one pushes a fixed date forward a weekday each year, and that is why counts change.
Because of the shift, the First Day of Summer lands on a different day of the week each year. This year it falls on a Monday, and that is why the count above is 33.
Leap years carry 366 days, so dates slide two weekdays forward. Over a four year cycle the weekday of the June solstice visits most of the week.
Visit again next week and the figure will have changed. One Friday drops out each time one goes by, until none are left before the June solstice.
Using the count for planning
Reminders work best when they are tied to real dates. The Friday list gives you each one, in order, up to the June solstice.
Households can use the number to split chores. Workplaces can use it to set targets for each Friday until the June solstice.
Two days are left out of the figure: today and the June solstice. When either one is a Friday, include it by adding one.
Notice how evenly the Fridays are spaced. They are a week apart, so the list is a ready-made timeline for the days before the First Day of Summer.
When time is short, treat the last two Fridays as a buffer. Plan the main work earlier so that a slip does not matter.
Mark the first and the last Friday in your diary now. The ones between them then become a simple checklist.
If the count reaches zero, the page tells you so. After that it looks ahead to the next occurrence of the June solstice.
The count is the same for everyone in the same time zone. Visitors in other zones may see the date move at a different hour.
When you plan around the First Day of Summer, it helps to see the Fridays as separate chances. Each one is a day you can use for errands, calls or rest. Keep the page handy for next time.
Reading the list is quicker than counting on a wall calendar. It also avoids slips, such as skipping a week or counting a day twice.
A count of Fridays is a plain fact, but it shapes decisions about leave, savings and study time. Check it whenever the plan changes.
