Why the number of Mondays changes each year
A normal year has 365 days, which is 52 full weeks and one extra day. That extra day moves every date forward by one weekday each year.
When the June solstice is a Monday, as it is now, the count of Mondays up to it comes to 32.
Add a leap day and the weekday of the First Day of Summer moves by two. That is why the gap between good and quiet years is uneven.
Time moves the answer. Every Monday that goes by is crossed off, so tomorrow's figure may be one lower than today's.
Using the count for planning
Counting the Mondays left lets you split a goal into weekly steps. Divide the total by the number of Mondays, and the pace is clear.
Schools, clubs and gyms often run classes on Mondays. For them the count is a quick way to see how many sessions are left.
Keep in mind that the answer stops short of the June solstice and starts after today. Add one for each end you want back.
Because a Monday comes round only once a week, the number left before the June solstice is a fair measure of time. Few other counts are as simple.
If a deadline falls near the June solstice, work backward. Pick the last Monday you can use, then space the earlier ones a week apart.
A countdown in Mondays turns a vague deadline into a schedule. Start from the last one and work back.
Most people want the headline figure. The table and the calendar show the working, in case you need to check a date.
People ask about Mondays for pay, classes, rotas and countdowns. The answer here is exact, and the dates behind it are listed.
Clubs and classes that meet on a Monday can use the figure for their term plan. Each Monday in the list is one session you can book. Bookmark it to save time later.
Some people like to count backwards from the First Day of Summer. Each Monday that passes takes one off the total, which makes the wait feel shorter.
The figure covers every Monday in the span, including ones that sit on a public holiday. The table notes those so you can allow for them.
