Why the number of Fridays changes each year
Weeks repeat every seven days, but years run 365. The one day of slack is what moves a date from, say, a Tuesday to a Wednesday.
When July 1 is a Thursday, as it is now, the count of Fridays up to it comes to 34.
In a leap year the calendar gains a day in February. Dates after it then land two weekdays later than in the previous year.
The count also depends on the day you check. Each Friday that passes drops the total by one, and the number reaches zero after the last Friday before July 1.
Using the count for planning
Counting the Fridays left lets you split a goal into weekly steps. Divide the total by the number of Fridays, and the pace is clear.
Teams often use a Friday count to plan deadlines, deliveries and sign-off dates. Shops use it to schedule promotions, and families use it to share out chores or events.
Both ends are open. Today and July 1 are not in the total, so add one if you want a Friday on either end included.
The Fridays before July are separated by exactly one week. That makes them a natural way to cut a long countdown into even parts.
If you are not sure how much is left to do, divide it by the number of Fridays ahead. That gives you a pace to follow.
If a plan needs a fixed number of Fridays, compare it with the total here. A gap shows you straight away whether the time is enough.
The list stops at the day before July 1. A Friday that falls on the day itself is not included.
If you share the page, others see the count for their own date. That keeps the number honest for everyone.
People often count Fridays for pay periods, school terms and gym plans. The same method works for any repeating weekday you care about. Share it so others can plan too.
The dates in the list come straight from the calendar, so leap years and month lengths are handled for you. You only need to read the answer.
The figure covers every Friday in the span, including ones that sit on a public holiday. The table notes those so you can allow for them.
Planning around the Fridays
Friday, November 27 is Black Friday, the day after US Thanksgiving. It is number 4 in the list of 34 Fridays.
Friday, June 25 is the last Friday before July.
Paydays before July
Your pay cycle may differ from the list above. Add your next Friday payday and the planner will show how many fall before July.
Check your employer's calendar. Some move paydays when they fall on a holiday.
The same count in other years

Questions people ask
Is July 1 counted as a Friday?
It makes no difference this year, because July 1 falls on a Thursday. We never count the day itself.
Is today counted?
Today is skipped. The first Friday we can count is one that starts tomorrow or later, and the figure changes at midnight.
Does the count change in another time zone?
Only around midnight. The count changes when your own local day changes, so a visitor in Sydney sees tomorrow's number hours before a visitor in New York.
Can a month have 5 Fridays?
Yes. Months with 29 to 31 days can include a fifth Friday, and shorter ones cannot. See Fridays in 2028 for the months with five.
How many Fridays are left in 2026?
There are 8 left in 2026. The last one is Friday, December 25.
