Why the number of Saturdays changes each year
Seven does not go into 365 cleanly. The remainder of one pushes a fixed date forward a weekday each year, and that is why counts change.
Because of the shift, May lands on a different day of the week each year. This year it falls on a Saturday, and that is why the count above is 25.
Once in four years the shift doubles. The weekday of May 1 then jumps ahead by two, and the Saturday count follows.
The count also depends on the day you check. Each Saturday that passes drops the total by one, and the number reaches zero after the last Saturday before May 1.
Using the count for planning
Think of each Saturday as one slot in a schedule. The count shows how many slots are free, so you can divide the work.
Coaches, tutors and caterers who work on Saturdays can see their calendar load at a glance. The count shows how many are still free.
Keep in mind that the answer stops short of May 1 and starts after today. Add one for each end you want back.
Each Saturday is exactly seven days after the last. That steady spacing is what makes the count to May 1 so easy to read.
When time is short, treat the last two Saturdays as a buffer. Plan the main work earlier so that a slip does not matter.
A countdown in Saturdays turns a vague deadline into a schedule. Start from the last one and work back.
Bookmark the page and check it whenever you plan. The figure stays correct as the dates move on.
When May 1 arrives, the page switches to the next one. You can keep using it all year without changing the link.
The figure is a plain count of calendar days that fall on a Saturday. It does not depend on weather, traffic or any local custom. Use it as a quick sanity check.
The dates in the list come straight from the calendar, so leap years and month lengths are handled for you. You only need to read the answer.
Because the Saturdays are listed in order, you can spot gaps and doubled up weeks at a glance. That helps when a plan has to be rearranged.

The same count in other years
Each year in the grid starts from the same calendar date. The total depends on where May 1 falls in that week.
Weekday shown is the day May falls on. See May in the next 10 years.
Come back whenever you like. The count is recalculated each time, so the number of Saturdays before May is always right for today.
Questions people ask
Is May 1 counted as a Saturday?
No. We count the Saturdays before May, so May 1 is left out. Count it and the answer becomes 26.
Is today counted?
Not included. The page starts counting from tomorrow, so today, even as a Saturday, stays out until the day is over.
Does the count change in another time zone?
Only around midnight. The count changes when your own local day changes, so a visitor in Sydney sees tomorrow's number hours before a visitor in New York.

Sometimes. A month of 29 days or longer will have five Saturdays when its first day is the right weekday. See Saturdays in 2028 for the months with five.
How many Saturdays are left in 2026?
In what remains of 2026 you will meet 8. The last is Saturday, December 26.
