How we count the Thursdays
A simple rule drives this page. Count each Thursday that comes after Tuesday, November 3, 2026 and ends before August 1, and do not count anything else.
Everyone counts differently. Some use days, some use sleeps, and some use Thursdays, which is what this page does for August.
That gives 39 Thursdays between now and August. The first is Thursday, November 5, and the last is Thursday, July 29.

Why the number of Thursdays changes each year
A normal year has 365 days, which is 52 full weeks and one extra day. That extra day moves every date forward by one weekday each year.
Since August 1 is a Sunday this year, the page finds 39 Thursdays ahead of it. Next year the weekday, and the count, will differ.
Years with a February 29 push every later date forward two places in the week. Plan around this when you compare one year with the next.
Expect the answer to shrink. Each Thursday that comes and goes subtracts one, and the count ends at zero as August 1 arrives.
Using the count for planning
Weekly jobs fit neatly into a Thursday count. Mark each date, and you can see at a glance how many repeats are left.
Coaches, tutors and caterers who work on Thursdays can see their calendar load at a glance. The count shows how many are still free.
The total excludes today and the day of August 1. Add one for each of those you want counted, if it is a Thursday.
A Thursday has its own character in the run-up to August. It is the day many people use to catch up, and the dates in the table show how many remain.
If a deadline falls near August 1, work backward. Pick the last Thursday you can use, then space the earlier ones a week apart.
Share the page with a partner or a team. Everyone sees the same number of Thursdays left, and nobody has to do the sums.
Most people want the headline figure. The table and the calendar show the working, in case you need to check a date.
Businesses use the same logic for stock and staffing. A set number of Thursdays means a set number of repeat tasks.
A Thursday tally is easy to explain to others, because it is one number and one list. Share the page and everyone sees the same thing. It is a simple way to stay organised.
Weekday counts are handy for deadlines that ignore the weekend. They are less handy for rules that count every calendar day in a row.
If you only care about one day a week, a single Thursday count is cleaner than a full calendar. It shows what is left in one number.

Questions people ask
Is August 1 counted as a Thursday?
It makes no difference this year, because August 1 falls on a Sunday. We never count the day itself.
Is today counted?
No. Counting begins tomorrow, so a Thursday that is happening now does not add to the number.
Does the count change in another time zone?
Yes, by up to one. Because the day starts at different times in different places, the figure shifts at your own midnight.
Can a month have 5 Thursdays?
Yes, a month can hold five Thursdays when it has at least 29 days and starts on the right weekday. See Thursdays in 2028 for the months with five.
How many Thursdays are left in 2026?
In what remains of 2026 you will meet 9. The last is Thursday, December 31.
