Why the number of Sundays changes each year
Fifty-two weeks make 364 days, so a 365 day year leaves one day over. The leftover pushes each date one weekday later than last year.
The date of June 1 does not move, but its weekday does. As a Tuesday this year, it leaves 30 Sundays to count.
The 29th of February shakes up the rhythm. A date that moved one weekday last year may move two this time.
The count also depends on the day you check. Each Sunday that passes drops the total by one, and the number reaches zero after the last Sunday before June 1.
Using the count for planning
Lessons, deliveries and check-ins often land on Sundays. Knowing how many remain helps you pace them evenly.
Delivery teams, rota planners and parents of busy children all like a count by weekday. It reduces a month of dates to one number.
The total excludes today and the day of June 1. Add one for each of those you want counted, if it is a Sunday.
The mood of a Sunday changes as June gets closer. Early on there are many to spare, and near the end each one feels precious.
Make good use of the final Sunday. It is often the last chance to finish what you need before June arrives.
Share the page with a partner or a team. Everyone sees the same number of Sundays left, and nobody has to do the sums.
These counts use the Gregorian calendar and ignore time of day. A Sunday counts as passed once the date has changed in your zone.
Some years give one more Sunday than others, and that is why the same page changes from year to year.
Parents, carers and coaches who plan around a Sunday find the countdown useful. It turns a vague wait into a number you can write down. It takes a few seconds to read.
The dates in the list come straight from the calendar, so leap years and month lengths are handled for you. You only need to read the answer.
People who plan around June often check this page once a week. The number drops by one each time a Sunday passes.
Planning around the Sundays
Sunday, May 30 is the last Sunday before June.
Paydays before June
This planner assumes your pay lands on a Sunday. Set your next one and it lists each payday up to June.
Check your employer's calendar. Some move paydays when they fall on a holiday.
The same count in other years
A look at other years shows how much the answer varies. The weekday of June is the main reason.
Weekday shown is the day June falls on. See June in the next 10 years.
Whenever you need the number again, it will be here. It is always the count of Sundays between today and June 1.
Questions people ask
Is June 1 counted as a Sunday?
It makes no difference this year, because June 1 falls on a Tuesday. We never count the day itself.
Is today counted?
We do not count today. A Sunday that has already started is not in the total, and it rolls over at local midnight.
Does the count change in another time zone?
Only around midnight. The count changes when your own local day changes, so a visitor in Sydney sees tomorrow's number hours before a visitor in New York.
Can a month have 5 Sundays?
Yes, though it depends on the calendar. Longer months start on different weekdays, and some give a fifth Sunday. See Sundays in 2028 for the months with five.
How many Sundays are left in 2026?
Expect 8 before 2026 ends. The last one lands on Sunday, December 27.
