Why the number of Tuesdays changes each year

The week and the year do not divide evenly. One spare day a year means the same date lands a weekday later every twelve months.

Because of the shift, June lands on a different day of the week each year. This year it falls on a Tuesday, and that is why the count above is 29.

Leap years carry 366 days, so dates slide two weekdays forward. Over a four year cycle the weekday of June 1 visits most of the week.

Because the window starts tomorrow, the answer moves as days pass. Every Tuesday that slips behind us takes one off the total.

Using the count for planning

A weekly habit has a finite number of turns. Here that is the number of Tuesdays before June 1, and the table lists each one.

Teams often use a Tuesday count to plan deadlines, deliveries and sign-off dates. Shops use it to schedule promotions, and families use it to share out chores or events.

Note that neither today nor June 1 is counted. If one of them is a Tuesday and matters to you, add it back yourself.

A Tuesday is a handy checkpoint. With June 1 ahead, you can use each one to review what is done and what is left.

Write the Tuesday dates in a calendar now. Seeing them in a row makes it harder to put things off until June 1.

Use the table as a to-do list. Tick off each Tuesday as it passes and the remaining count takes care of itself.

Most people want the headline figure. The table and the calendar show the working, in case you need to check a date.

A good use of this number is a reminder. Pick a Tuesday, set a calendar alert, and let the page do the counting.

When you plan around June, it helps to see the Tuesdays as separate chances. Each one is a day you can use for errands, calls or rest. Keep the page handy for next time.

A Tuesday is the same length everywhere, but the date it falls on depends on your time zone. The page uses your own clock after it loads.

For a rough sense of scale, divide the total by the weeks left. In most spans you will find about one Tuesday each week.
