How we count the Thursdays
Each Thursday between tomorrow and the eve of November 1 is counted once. Today, Wednesday, November 4, 2026, is skipped, even when it is a Thursday.
There is a reason this page exists. Weeks organise most lives, so the number of Thursdays before November is easier to feel than a total of days.

Why the number of Thursdays changes each year
Weeks repeat every seven days, but years run 365. The one day of slack is what moves a date from, say, a Tuesday to a Wednesday.
Because of the shift, November lands on a different day of the week each year. This year it falls on a Monday, and that is why the count above is 52.
Every fourth year gains a February 29. That extra day doubles the weekday shift for dates that come after it.
Open the page tomorrow and the number may be lower. It falls by one each time a Thursday goes by, and hits zero when the last has passed.
Using the count for planning
A list of Thursdays is useful when a task repeats every week. You can spread it out, set a reminder for each one, and see how many chances remain.
Delivery teams, rota planners and parents of busy children all like a count by weekday. It reduces a month of dates to one number.
Check the edges before you rely on the total. Today and November 1 are left out, and each can add one if it is a Thursday.
Of the seven weekdays, Thursday is the one this page follows. Its dates run in a straight line toward November, a week apart.
If you are not sure how much is left to do, divide it by the number of Thursdays ahead. That gives you a pace to follow.
Think about which Thursdays are already taken. Holidays, trips and events can remove some, so the true number may be smaller.
Dates in the table are for the country you are in only if the calendar is the same. Holidays are not removed from the count.
Businesses use the same logic for stock and staffing. A set number of Thursdays means a set number of repeat tasks.
If a task repeats every Thursday, the count tells you how many turns remain before November. Divide your work by that number to set a fair pace. Check back whenever your plans move.
If your week starts on a different day, the count of Thursdays stays the same. Only the order of days around each Thursday changes.
Weekday counts suit plans that skip the weekend, such as shifts, lessons and deliveries. Pick the Thursday that fits your routine and track it here.
Planning around the Thursdays
Thursday, October 28 is the last Thursday before November.

The same count in other years
The table below repeats the count for nearby years. Each uses the weekday that November 1 falls on in that year.
Weekday shown is the day November falls on. See November in the next 10 years.
Come back whenever you like. The count is recalculated each time, so the number of Thursdays before November is always right for today.
Questions people ask
Is November 1 counted as a Thursday?
It makes no difference this year, because November 1 falls on a Monday. We never count the day itself.
Is today counted?
Today is not counted. Even when it is a Thursday, the total begins with tomorrow and changes at your local midnight.
Does the count change in another time zone?
Briefly, yes. Zones that are ahead roll over to the next day first, so the count can differ by one for a few hours.
Can a month have 5 Thursdays?
Yes. Any month with 29 or more days can have five, depending on the weekday it starts on. See Thursdays in 2028 for the months with five.
How many Thursdays are left in 2026?
Expect 9 before 2026 ends. The last one lands on Thursday, December 31.
